092*NOR/Newsletter May 25th 2023

Hail*NOR/everyone!

Lots of great things happening this summer!! The Guild Podcast is coming back thanks to Marquis Talolan and Lord Emeritus Lasarian. They originally produced 25 episodes back in 2012-14, interviewing our guild officers, talking upcoming game releases and even interviewed the creator of “Dark Age of Camelot” and the upcoming game “Camelot Unchained”! Our creators are looking for one more to help out their project, see below for details. So be on the lookout for future episodes soon and find the old episodes on the Forums podcast list: http://newoutriders.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=68 and you can still subscribe to them on apple podcasts and a few other places linked in the forums.

A big congrats to Count Garadian and all of his new officers in Final Fantasy XIV they have reached 40+ members and their Provisional Barony status has been raised to Provisional County. Speaking of provisional realms, the guild is always looking at expanding into new games and there can be a lot of them to keep track of. I’m wondering if anyone or plural, that would be interested in maintaining a post on the website that lists current mmos that are still running and future mmos to come. This could be a great way for guild members to keep an eye on possible branches for the guild to wear their jackets in.

The archive of old rosters continue to be added to the player and realm database. One of our largest games was the The Realm, this month i uploading 163 unaccounted members profiles with over 1300 history records for the realm. EverQuest 2 had a small upload this month with 28 unaccounted members and 299 history records, but most of that realm had previously been inputted years ago. Horizons in which was small provisional barony back in 2004 had 22 records of existing members added, and I don’t think that realm ever made it to provisional county before it fizzled.

Anyway thats all I got, but check out for whats happening in our active realms below and have a great Spring finish and may your gaming be entertaining all summer long!

    Hail *NOR/!

Wednesday, May 17th marks the opening day of DDO’s Hardcore Season VIII – The Dragon’s Hoard.  As it stands now, Season VIII will be a two-month season duration, ending on July 18th, 2023.  Between now and then, players will have an opportunity to acquire patron favor; reaper action points; and lost pieces of dragon’s hoard, each which can be turned in for a unique bound-to-account items and effects.

The Hardcore server is a permadeath server, which means that if your character dies, it goes to the Land of the Lost Souls and you have to reroll.  Accordingly, you will be faced with creating a character build that can survive traps, monsters, named bosses, and the trials and tribulations that are unique to Dungeons & Dragons Online.  If you have a free-to-play account, you can enter quests on normal difficulty, and you will progressively unlock the hard and elite difficulty upon completion of the previous difficulty for each individual quest.  VIPs unlock the elite difficulty to start, which grants you maximum favor for each quest to begin at the risk of the higher difficulty.

If you haven’t tried the Hardcore server before, I invite you to give it a shot!  If you have any questions regarding character builds, strategies, and gameplay, do not hesitate to start a discussion within the DDO Courtyard channel on *NOR/’s Discord server.  Additionally, our guild member Noobicabra will be streaming heroic, epic, and reaper quests daily on Twitch at https://www.twitch.tv/noobicabra if you want to see Noobi provide efficient gameplay and quest strategies.

    See you in-game!

    Hail*NOR/ From Tyria!

We’ve got some exciting news. First, after investigating the goings-on in Gyala Delve, we join Gorrik, Yao, Taimi and Rama (along with his hat) to go deeper to find the source of what’s plaguing the area. We get to explore more of Gyala Delve, and once we’ve brought peace to the area, we’ll have access to new merchants, a new Roller Beetle race, and our first Siege Turtle adventure. Plus we have even more adventures throughout Cantha to enjoy. (And hints of the future of Tyria) https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/play-what-lies-within-today/

To celebrate, starting 5/23 through to 5/28, you can link your account to the Twitch golem and earn in-game drops including a warrior Quaggan backpack and a bag slot expansion. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/twitch-drops/ Some partners I recommend are Mukluk, Laranity, MightyTeapot, and Vallun.

Since our last communication, we got more information of what’s coming in the future for Tyria. Some highlights include a more regular release schedule of new content every three to four months, constant updates to the core game, WvW, and PvP, a new fractal dungeon and challenge mode, the return of the Dragon Bash festival, and more. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/studio-update-spring-2023/

Please visit our DIS-CORD golem for the latest news and announcements. Until we meet again, may your hunts be honorable and your mugs full of beer.

    Hail*NOR/ This is the May.

Update 7.3 is coming. New story, flashpoint, new landing zone on the planet Voss, stronghold decorations, more PVP changes for point accumulations, new class balancing, economy changes to help reign in inflation and updates to the Galactic Trade Network, new Cartel Market items, and the return of Nar Shaddaa nightlife. The addition of “Shrine of Silence” and some new cool fight mechanics and bosses. The planetary zone on Voss offers some very exciting new content in the autumnal season that occurs eternally on Voss. Story updates will focus on Darth Malgus. There will also be a focus on Voss for the new stronghold décor.

PVP has developed a consistent following thanks to Gloom and friends on Monday night. There has been a rework of the PVP system, and it has generally been accepted as good. The new PVP changes to increase scoring for Galactic Seasons PVP challenges is sure to bring more players in and make things more fun.

Economy changes seem to be having a good effect on the inflation of the game. Some end game items are having prices reduced, and the credit sinks are focused more on higher level players activities as well as bringing the trade chats into scope.

Galactic seasons is progressing well, and as always our fearless leader Intisar finds fun and creative ways (like SPORKS aka sparks of War) to help guild members get points towards meeting those goals. He does an amazing job of leading and organizing the fun times in addition to being a SWTOR content creator and overall great individual!!

Recently I was hit by the passing of Ray Stevenson who is set to play Baylan Skoll, an orange-red lightsaber wielder in the show. There will be an orange-red lightsaber remembrance run this Sunday at 8PM in honor of Ray Stevenson. If you are not familiar with him, he was also Volstagg in the Marvel Thor movies and played the Punisher in Punisher War Zone.

May the Force be with you all!

  • Podcast Revival

    Hail*NOR/

Lasarian and I have some great news: we’re reviving the New OutRiders Podcast! But to make it as legendary as our guild, we’re going to need a little help from one of you – we’re on the lookout for a Pre-Production Coordinator.

Before you worry about what that fancy title means, let me break it down. Basically, we need someone to:

    • Scour the MMORPG and TTRPG realms for the news, updates, game releases, patch notes, and all the spicy community updates.
    • Run the show for our pre-interview questionnaires. You’ll be the first point of contact with our guests, getting them set up with their questions, grabbing their responses, and then sending the important bits to Lasarian and me.

Don’t stress, you won’t have to actually come on the show – your behind-the-scenes magic will be more than enough to make each episode a success.

So, what kind of guildmate are we looking for?

    You should be:

    • An MMORPG and/or TTRPG enthusiast (obviously)
    • Reliable and organized (if not raid-leader, at least reliable raid-participant)
    • Comfortable sifting through the info wilderness
    • Interested in podcasting – no experience necessary

If this sounds like your kind of side-quest and you’re ready to level up your contribution to the NOR community, we want to hear from you! Drop a reply to this post or sling us a PM about why you think you’d be great for the gig.

Thanks for considering joining our podcast crew!

    Thank you,

    Talolan & Lasarian
