Regarding this discord name change thing I’ve been all gung-ho about. I put my thoughts down, I’ll post them here, some food for thought.

Standardized NOR Nickname Format Across Discord
Purpose: I believe we should codify a naming convention that reinforces guild identity, improves cross-realm clarity, and restores a ceremonial tradition tied to the NOR EPI.

Discord Name Formats:
I strongly believe that we should formally adopt a standard Discord nickname format policy for members across all realms: [NOR Name], [Rank] [Realm Tag] Example: Bubba, Baron [NW] • Bubette, Knight [GW2] This format helps ensure a member’s in-game name, rank, and realm affiliation are clearly visible in voice chat overlays, text channels, and event rosters, supporting both ceremonial identity and functional clarity. This particular order also solves a display issue of putting the rank first, as the right side of the Discord app has a small area and is not resizable, so in order to be able to see names, the rank must come after the name.

Reasoning:
1. It Reflects Our EPI Tradition,
The NOR Epithet (EPI) has historically served as a quick-reference signature of membership; used in forums, in-game biographies, and ceremonial promotions. Updating nicknames to reflect the rank and realm parallels this practice, modernizing the tradition for today’s platforms while still honoring our roots. Historically, at the end of each promotion ceremony we would say, “You may now change your EPI to *NOR/SQ-[game]”

This wasn’t just a phrase we said for no reason. It was part of the rite of ceremony. This is that rite reborn in a format that works in Discord, which has all but replaced our forums and email.

2. Strengthens NOR Guild Unity & Identity,
By displaying our rank and realm more visibly, we cultivate an atmosphere of shared belonging. Members see at a quick glance who is representing what realm, and how they rank within the Order without having to click each profile to see role tags or memorize the assigned colors for each role. While name colors, role tags, and roster listings serve an administrative function, they aren’t ceremonial. They don’t echo our public rituals, nor do they reflect rank across platforms with the clarity and presence that visible Discord activity provides to the entire guild as witness. Also, to be clear, using a nickname like “Norbie, Knight [ESO]” isn’t about ego. It is an act of visibility and stewardship, much like displaying one’s NOR EPI or receiving a title during a squiring ceremony. Just as wearing the NOR Jacket is a privilege and a pledge, displaying a rank in name form honors a member’s contributions without diminishing others. It motivates through recognition, not hierarchy. In fact, removing rank visibility flattens the cultural legacy we have built up over the decades. A legacy in which our titles are earned, remembered, and celebrated. This isn’t about making officers feel superior or non-officers inferior; it is about acknowledging all the hands that hold up the guild, in full public view, as we’ve done since the beginning but have slightly fallen away from as technology changed. This also fosters respect, recognition, and continuity across games, reducing confusion and increasing ceremonial cohesion.

3. Improves Voice Chat Clarity,
In active voice channels, especially multi-realm meetings or events, nicknames like Garadian, Lord [HC/ESO] allow officers and members to identify attendees instantly and at-a-glance to quickly figure out who are the event leaders/officers. It also helps leadership coordinate quickly and identify visiting members of other realms without requiring any roster research or introductions.

4. Restores Public Recognition of Promotions,
In the past, changing one’s EPI was part of the celebration of being promoted. It is a marker of honor for service to the guild. Reintroducing this formality reinforces the meaning of each rank advancement. It helps to make the honor of a promotion ceremony visible again, not just spoken or posted.

I like the night life, I like to boogie!

Many things are happening in SwTOR. It is the return of Night Life (running now through August 19,) and with it many new Highroller rewards and new mounts and pets. They are the Smuggler’s Trained Vine Cat, Fiery Grefna and Iridescent Veractyl mounts and Smuggled Sithspawn, Vixian Youngling, and Emperor’s Pritarr cub mini-pets. It is the final week of Rising Powers season, but PVP season Champions of the Wild is just getting ramped up. Our fellow guildies have decided a new game should be playyed with the Rogue Cartel Warbot. The game is to see how many people in the group we can explode. Currently Galaxiya and Deus are tied at 5 guidlmates a peice. This is strictly a fun game and a way to pad the healers numbers. The object is not to kill each other.

The SwTOR G.L.U.E. event is coming up this weekend. What is GLUE you ask? Why, it is a guild unity event. It is a chance to check out the guild and the game. We will be travelling around to see some sights, have some Shennanighans, and help with anyone who has been curious about checking out Star Wars the old republic. You do not have to be a subscriber to participate, you just need to have a Republic side character that has completed the starting planet and made it to Coruscant to obtain your spaceship. This will be on Sunday, July 27th from 3-5 PM EST. We will have people available to assist. You can play whatever charter class you wish.

Currently we are anticipating an upcoming livestream (date unknown) for updates to 7.7.1 which could include the largest story patch in the history of SwTOR. The Annual where’s muffin contest has it’s 2 winners. Congratulations to Shintar and Jessiopolis on finding him. Muffin is a Plaguehorn Reek that Duke Intisar hides on both the Republic and Imperial sides. Prizes are given out to the winners, and this year the first entry was not made until the next day. The second one took a total of two days for the discovery.

Hail and welcome to Tyria. We have some big news! To help us deal with the new dangers, we’ll be getting new elite specializations. We haven’t gotten new elite specs since End of Dragons. As of this newsletter, we know Mesmers are getting Troubadour, Elementalists Evoker, and Thief Antiquary. We’ll be getting a first look at these 3 Wednesday with a Twitch Livestream 7/25. ArenaNet is planning to reveal all the rest of the new specs over the next couple of weeks (3 a week).

In addition, the skimmer mount will be getting new and updated mechanics. Plus new raids and strikes along with challenge and legendary modes along with them being unified in the same structure. And that’s not all, Visions of Eternity will also give us a new homestead. We’ll be able to save our decoration layout and freely swap between the Janthir and Castoran maps.

Wolf has blessed us with a new member to our pack. Everyone raise a mug of ale and give a hearty hail and welcome to Squire Fabrelle officially to NOR. We’re thrilled to have them join our ranks.

The Final Fantasy branch of New Outriders has been gearing up for the upcoming 7.3 Patch drop in early august by farming the brand-new Occult Crescent zone, with a ton of fun exciting boss, and open world encounters. The new zone is akin to Bozja and Eureka before it and offers a pretty fun way to gear up alternative jobs, and start work on that legendary weapon grind every expansion has!

Right now is a great time to catch back up on what’s going on in Eorzea as we hang out on the Aether Datacenter, and the Adamantoise server. The current moogle tomestone event has a ton of fun mounts, and other cosmetic , and map rewards as well and will be ongoing until the drop of patch 7.3! If you were thinking about trying out Final Fantasy Online, or jumping back in now is a great time to catch up on what’s Been going on!

Becoming a Squire:
Welcome to the New OutRiders! As a Recruit, you’re already part of the community, but becoming a full-fledged Squire is about showing that you’re here for more than just your name on the roster. Get involved, play alongside your guildmates, and uphold the values we stand for. Officers will be looking to see that you respect the guild’s principles and contribute positively to the community. When they recognize your dedication, you’ll be formally inducted as a Squire.

Our most basic condition of membership rests on honoring our Jacket Creed:

note: The “Jacket” is our visible indicator in a game that we are a member of NOR (Guild Tag).

“I promise to wear the NOR name with pride. While wearing it, I will bring no shame or dishonor to NOR in word or deed. I will defend it and anyone else who wears it to the uttermost limits of my ability.”

So, let’s see you all in action, during our events, in our guild chat, in our Discord. I look forward to more induction ceremonies and the fullness of our guild awaits your presence!

On to other topics:

As you all are probably aware, we have suspended our trial nights throughout July. We will start them up again in August with normal trials (August 2nd will be our first). We will also be shifting the day and time of it to Saturdays at 3pm EST. Our regularly scheduled Saturday “Wayfarer’s Call” event will be moved to Sunday at 3pm EST to start on August 3rd.

There are four ways to see when one of our events are:

Read the Guild MOTD: You can access this by opening the guild interface.
Use NOR Guild Tools: /nor_event and /nor_trial will display our events in your chat window, same as the guild MOTD.
Discord #eso-event-announcements and #eso_trial_signups channels.
Our guild Calender, it’s Google Calender and super-easy to add to your own to give reminders etc. These are posted a few days before each event.

(Again Starting in August, our events will be OutRiders’ Adventure group events: Wednesday Nights at 8pm EST, Order’s Crucible [Trial]: on Saturdays at 3pm EST, and Wayfarer’s Call group event on Sundays at 3pm EST).

For those who enjoy PvP, the next in-game event starts July 24, Whitestrake’s Mayhem. Here are some bonuses for it, it’s always more fun to do these things as a team, it makes it less tedious, but it’s a good opportunity to work on Alliance Support and Assault ranks for some of the essential skills we use in trials.

+100% Experience from kills: earned in PvP: Cyrodiil, Imperial City and Battlegrounds

One more note on events: On the 31st of August, we will be running a Guild-Led Unity Event (GLUE) for any guild members outside of our ESO team that may want to pop into the game with us and see what it is all about. This will be something base-game and a mix of different activities to show what is out there to be done.

Welcome to Thrane, our new home in Dungeons and Dragons Online! Thrane is one of four 64-bit servers that players are required to move to. We will call Ghallanda no more in a similar way that we had to say goodbye to Fernia when the last server merge occurred. Thrane will provide our guild members with many opportunities to quest with players of all character and skill levels. I invite each guild member to strike up conversations with those you quest with, and if you believe that any non-guilded individuals would be a good fit with *NOR/, please do not hesitate to invite them to join our family–friendly casual gaming guild!
