Elder Scrolls Online: Cyrodiil War Guide
New OutRiders: Cyrodiil War Guide
Overview
Cyrodiil War Night is a large-scale PvP event where guild members engage in open-world battles across Cyrodiil. Due to the faction-based nature of Cyrodiil, players must commit to an alliance for the night to maintain balance and fair fights.
To ensure competitive battles, the event may utilize the Mercenary Squad System, allowing players with alts in multiple factions to temporarily fight for the weaker side. This helps prevent one faction from overwhelming the others and encourages fun, strategic combat.
Event Details
- Format: Open-world PvP battles across Cyrodiil.
- Faction Rules: Players commit to a faction for the night.
- Team Balancing: Mercenary Squads may be used if one faction is severely outnumbered.
How Faction Commitment Works
Due to Cyrodiil’s strict alliance structure, players must select which faction they will fight for during the event. Once chosen, they must remain with that faction for the duration of the event.
- Players with alts in multiple factions may join the side that needs reinforcement.
- Players with only one character may stay loyal to their primary faction.
- Faction balance will be monitored, and adjustments may be made if one side is severely outnumbered.
How the Mercenary Squad System Works
If one faction has significantly more players, guild members with alts in other alliances may volunteer to temporarily fight for the weaker side as “mercenaries.”
- Mercenaries commit to their new alliance for the entire event.
- After the event, they return to their primary faction.
- Guild incentives (optional rewards such as gold or crafting materials) may be offered to encourage participation.
- Mercenary shifts are only necessary when there is an extreme faction imbalance.
How to Participate
- The event lead/officer will determine the strength of Alliance distrubution for the night.
- Join the appropriate faction or volunteer as a mercenary if needed.
- Gather at a predetermined location in Cyrodiil (keep chat/Discord announcements active).
- Coordinate attacks on enemy objectives such as keeps, outposts, or resource points.
- Engage in structured battles or spontaneous warfare across Cyrodiil.
- Wrap up the event with a final battle or siege.
Any of this can change during the event due to the chaotic nature of war.
Rules & Etiquette
- Respect all participants; friendly competition is encouraged.
- In voice chat, keep discussions focused and constructive.

To the victors go the spoils!
