I'm going to play around with the free 2 play option a bit so I thought I would tell you folks:p

I got in contact with Bard yesterday and this is what he said

DCUO - There are now only 4 servers: USPC, PSPS3, EUPC & EUPS3. Population
is handled by "phasing" (ie: different instances of the same zone). I am
on USPC. When you create your character, don't worry about the PVE/PVP
choice because you can swap back and forth between PVE phase or PVP phase
at any time via the phase shifters in the Hall of Doom (villains) or
Watchtower (heroes).

For those that may be unaware, DCUO is Free 2 Play. The DLC's cost about $10/per DLC and add various things (3 new powersets, lots of pvp extras, raids, etc). When just starting out you won't need the DLC's at all.

The thing to remember about DCUO is that the 1-30 levelling is fast because 1-30 is supposed to be akin to a long tutorial. Once you hit 30 and begin doing Challenges, Raids, Duos, Alerts, etc, THAT'S where the game really starts. Once you hit 30, start looking to increase your Skill Points through accomplishing Feats (ever 100 pts of Feats gives you another Skill Point to put into whichever weapon tree you want - you get the bonus from that tree even if you aren't using that weapon type).
