108 *NOR/News Dungeons and Dragons Online

Hail *NOR/!

The New OutRiders Dungeons & Dragons Online branch is recruiting!  For guildies and gamers unfamiliar with DDO, the DDO is now in its 19th year, is inspired and operates on the classic 3.5 rules version of Dungeons & Dragons, utilizes the Eberron campaign on the continent of Xen’drik as its main inspiration, was the tip of the spear of the free-to-play movement in 2009 and beyond, and has a dedicated staff of developers who have a strong vision for the game moving forward.  DDO offers great character customization; nearly every race and class that D&D has; and most unique and powerful, a high level of “twitch” control of your character akin to games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), Fortnite, Apex, and Overwatch 2.  This means that you can leap over an incoming fireball, tumble out of the way of a lightning bolt, and evade traps and other pitfalls.  Dungeons & Dragons Online isn’t your typical two-dimensional click-and-wait MMORPG!

Dungeons & Dragons Online utilizes enhancement trees that offer amazing customization of each character you build.  Each class provides three standard enhancement trees which can mean the difference for the rogue class, for example, between being a quarterstaff-wielding acrobat; a stealthy dagger-wielding assassin; or a specialized locksmith and trap maker.  These class-based enhancements are augmented with racial enhancement trees as well as universal enhancement trees that can further hone and specialize your player character. A valuable aspect Dungeons & Dragons Online provides is that dungeon masters can gain inspiration from the 794 available quests and 52 wilderness explorer areas for their own pen and paper Dungeons & Dragons campaigns!  Some of my favorite quests that translate well to pen and paper include The Lost Seekers quest arc (L3-4), Redwillow’s Ruins (L6), Invaders! (L12), the Desecrated Temple of Vol (L14), and The Shroud (L17).  DDO also has released expansions that have brought fan favorites of pen and paper into MMO form, including Keep on the Borderlands (L1-2; epic L21-22), White Plume Mountain and Other Tales (L6-9; epic L21-32); and Mists of Ravenloft (L10-12; epic L31-32).
