The *NOR News Letter

Lady Elidriel was the first to start a regular News Letter for the *NOR members. It was issued on an ‘as needed’ basis to the small group of members that was *NOR at that time. After Elidriel retired that duty fell upon Lord Grognard who promptly enlisted Lord Avatar to take over that when he became a Lord of the High Council.

From that time until his resignation in early 1996, the News Letter was issued on a bi-monthly basis. The NL usually contained news that would interest *NOR members and had various articles of events {Fox Hunts, Fairs, etc.} that occurred or were about to occur. It also contained the latest in promotions and/or awards that were issued in the nominal two weeks period and an editorial by Lord Avatar. There was also, on occasion, a list of the Duchy Officers and DMG and HC members names and P. O. Box numbers printed. This helped the members to know who to go to when a question or problem arose.

It should also be noted that the E-Mail System on INN was rather cumbersome. There were no “Mailing Lists” and all letters had to be addressed individually. For Guild Officers, this meant that if you had a letter that had to be mailed to all the members under you, you could spend 30-60 minutes just in the INN Post Office. You COULD create one letter, but you had to call it up and address it for each person. Depending on what kind of account you had {5, 25, 50, 100 or ‘Unlimited’ hours} you could use up on-line hours just mailing Guild communications to the membership.
