History: The Old Republic Realm Origin

Launch December 2011: Lord Lasarian’s Branch Creation
Launch (12-22-2011) – (06-01-2012) on the Rubat Crystal server

The shortened history told by Ojike

“I helped form the SW:TOR branch (Lasarian still tells me it was 90% me, I don’t believe him) but what I did was kept the hype for the game up. When it was in beta, I told people what I was allowed to about the game. What I liked, what I didn’t. When the NDA was up, and more beta weekends happened, and more NOR got to try it… it opened up a slew of people wanting to join. We made posts on SW:TOR forums about NOR to try to recruit pre-launch. We formed alliances with guilds on their “Guild maker” sub-site, although none of our past guild alliances were originally posted to the same server as us. I was on our forums CONSTANTLY gearing up the info and interest in the game, promoting as much as I could. When the game launched, I would say we probably had at least 20 people online. All runnin’ around swinging those lovely humming beams of searing light. After about a month (or so) the High Council decided we had enough people (and enough interested officers) to form a full fledged NOR Branch, which later becomes a “Duchy”.” -Ojike

Lasarian supported Ojike’s efforts to get the ball rolling on SW:TOR, mostly by creating an organizational structure around which the members could rally. This was an ongoing post “Head Count” on the forums, as well as partitioning a special section on the forums just for SWTOR members. We formed a SWTOR Group on the forums so we could communicate at once with all interested members and of course, formed NOR in advance of the release with pre-order codes from members. Compared to the preparation for Rift, this was extremely well done. The in-game guild was formed prior to launch. On launch day, everyone was together on the same server, with some thirty members or more day one.

Summer of 2012 is when Lasarian began to turn his attention to a few wider guild issues, like the new site, new forums, the non-profit, as well as the nascent branch forming on GW2.

Lady Roxanne
During the few months of Lasarian’s LOA, Roxanne watched over the realm appointing new Officers and having meetings in the
shadows of the Coruscant spaceport cantinas.

June 2012 – Dec 2013: Duke Tundrra’s Reign
Shortly after a long Teamspeak 3 conversation with Lady Roxanne, Tundrra was offered a Count promotion, up from his previous Baron
position and a couple days later, June 1st 2012, he was ambushed with a Branch Leader offer at the guild meeting on Coruscant. The timing
could not been better with some of the major game changes coming, decisions had to be made.

Our home servers of “Rubat Crystal” (Republic) and “Juyo” (Empire) were being merged into new mega servers and the guild would have to
be manually re-established, members would have to be retagged, and the new guild bank would have to be remade. So in the middle of
June 2012 the process began to move the active members to “The Ebon Hawk” server and the renewed debate of what to do with the
Empire Branch began once again. In order to help make the best decision Count Tundrra promoted Grandee Riveni to a officer position
as Baron. Baron Riveni had been one of the few members that was extremely active on the Juyo server and with the most to lose by NOR
abandoning the server. With the expanding new game feature of the “Legacy System” it was decided to rebuild the new Alt branch on “The Ebon Hawk” where our new Republic branch had formed.

As more and more players hit level 50 our weekly flashpoint/dungeon run became a raid night but with numbers fluctuating with the release of Diablo 3 and then Guild Wars 2 it was hard to keep a full raid group geared and present. So in late November 2012, NOR reached out to a handful of guilds and created its first SWTOR Alliance with “The Corellian League”, from this point on NOR’s raid success exploded. See their early progress here. With the increased growth of the branch and success of the Alliance, NOR added a second raid night and an additional alliance was formed with “The Crescent Order” in April 2013. To help with the major changes of the upcoming expansion a SWTOR:DMG was formed in March 2013.

The Summer of 2013
The expansion “Rise of the Hutt Cartel” had little impact on the branch, however the creation of the SWTOR:DMG really increased the branches activity. The branch has become to be defined itself as a Raid guild, up to raiding 4 times a week. A lot of excitement is focused around the continued Progression of the Raid Operations. A regular attendance of 12+ players can be found online nightly and new players are still coming in regularly. The change in pay options BioWare has made (Free 2 Play) has really helped the game and branch keep its momentum. With the end of summer here players gaming schedules have changed and swtor finds its Count Riveni spending more time on his Law studies, so a change in Officers was made. With the success of Arttoheed’s SWTOR:DMG and his earned respect of his peers he was appointed as the new Count. In addition Zyera was made Baroness joining, Baron Poxi and Baron Gilenrod.
