I'm back with the current news on Star Citizen, the best looking game ever!

Two weeks ago we had the annual CitizenCon for Star Citizen in Hollywood and I was lucky enough to be one of the volunteers helping it happen. Everyone attending had an awesome time. Here is a 30 minute trailer that was shown during the show. It shows off the current and future tech in the game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdCFTF8j7yI

Notable timestamps:

3:00 Sample spaceship flight begins
14:00 Firefight while driving in URSA offroad attack vehicle
16:00 Finding a Dragonfly (speederbike) and riding it across the sand
23:00 Assaulting a crashed capital ship being used as a sand nomad (Sand People) base.

There are quite a few other great items in the video if you take the time to watch it. The sandworm (as in Dune) at the end is incredible! This video is showing off the procedurally generated planets and can get a little slow at times as it shows off the size and detail of the planet.

The game takes elements of design and gameplay from every scifi genre you could think of. Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Alien, Blade Runner, Starship Troopers, 2001, and almost any other movie you could want. So there is something there for everyone to recognize and feel at home with.

So what is Star Citizen you may ask.

Star Citizen is an open sandbox space simulator which is made up of more than one game. There is Star Citizen proper, which is more or less a traditional MMO. But there are no classes, no xp, no grinding other than earning money in the game. And there are lots of ways to do that to suit everyone's play style. The game is skill based. It is up the player to gather the items they want to use, and learn how to use those items well. If you are a good enough of a pilot, you can take a small basic ship and beat ships much bigger and badder than you are. Pilot skill is very important. But there will be other things besides piloting to do in the game. Professions are coming soon! Haul cargo, explore for new planets, become a pirate, or a bounty hunter, etc.

Squadron 42 is the first person shooter portion, which has a full story and is where the actors and motion capture are used. Such as some guy named Mark Hammil you may of heard of. He is your flight instructor, and main character, while you learn how to fly spaceships!

There is a sub-game called Arena Commander where you can play short games solo or with others, such as racing a space ship around a track through a floating city, or Battle Royale where up to 16 pilots in a large arena in an asteroid field fight it out one against all! There is a capture the flag game, fight an alien swarm, as well as just free flight area to learn how to fly with no one watching!

Another sub-game called Star Marine is coming out within the next month or so. It is the FPS game where we can team up and fight each other without fear of death penalties. This is where the PvPers will spend a lot of time!

Starting today, and running through the end of October, there is a FreeFly trial going on. This means anyone can download and play the game for free. Simply make an account, download the game, and go for it!

To get started and make an account use this link: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/enli ... -BQW5-ZMTJ
It will get you some extra starting game currency and me a referral. Not that big of a deal but everything helps. If you already made an account, don't worry about it.

The game is crowd funded and open development. So by purchasing the game, you are helping to get it made. There are a couple hours of video created every week showing us what is happening and coming up. It is quite something to see how the game is being made.

If you do want to purchase the game, then I recommend getting the full game package for $60 which includes the games listed above. There is more than one starter package and it can be confusing. The Aurora MR combo pack is the best rounded ship for a new player.

Until the game launches, or maybe when beta starts, we can donate more towards game development and be rewarded with a ship upgrade to a bigger ship, or to add additional ships to your account. Some people have dozens of ships and have helped fund the game development quite a bit. This is optional. There is no monthly fee and we can play the game forever without spending any more money beyond having some type of game package.

Feel free to come watch me play the game on twitch.tv at https://www.twitch.tv/stoutman_pr where I stream Sunday through Thursdays starting at 7PM PST. I may stream some today or tomorrow, not sure yet. I also tweet out when I am starting to stream @stoutman_pr so follow if you would like. Send me a PM on twitter if you want to get a hold of me, tis the best way. I would be more than happy to show anyone who installs the game how to fly and have some fun. The multiplayer in this game is great! The player community is the best I have ever seen in any game! Friendly as can be :) I think NOR is an excellent fit for this game.

If you are a fan of the old SWG like I am, or enjoy SWTOR, then Star Citizen should definitely appeal to you!

The Black Desert Online branch welcomes Baron Arvoriel as our newest Officer. We know he will do a great job in helping lead the branch in new content and welcome new recruits to the roster.

We continue to run our daily and weekly events and guild missions along with our weekly take down of a guild boss mob. We are continuing to work toward our goal of participating in Guild Node Wars.

We have started attaining our awakened weapons as they become available. So far three members have achieved their Awakened Weapons. We look forward to the release of yet more awakened weapons. We are working to get each of our members to the required level needed for these weapons.

We will continue to work on recruiting like minded members to our guild where they can truly enjoy the game and all of the content available.

Thank you,
Countess Kinaria (SanSing)

Over the past two months, the Guild Wars 2 branch has been very busy with Living Story 3 updates being rolled out from ArenaNet, as well as making major Guild Hall expansions, revamping our scheduled events, recruiting and promoting, enjoying a Mad King Halloween, and successfully defeating the Vale Guardian. It’s been a real treat to experience a wide array of activities with NORbies new and old, and we look forward to even more to come!

ArenaNet released Rising Flames, the next installment of Living Story 3, and available free to all owners of the Heart of Thorns expansion. The content introduces more personal story, a new map with an epic jumping puzzle, a revamped Mistlock Observatory, additional achievements, and several tweaks and quality of life improvements. In October, the Mad King returned with his tricks and treats, daring us to assault his labyrinth and infiltrate his clock tower. NOR was up to the challenge and filled their sacks with much loot, frequently leading entire maps through his lair and gorging themselves on candy corn. We eagerly await the Winter Festival and next episode of the living story!

NOR has continued to show remarkable teamwork and dedication towards expanding our Guild Hall. While mixed with some bittersweet emotions, NOR completed its Guild Memorial. It’s a reminder of how NOR is about more than pixels on a screen and to treasure what we have together. We fondly remember all those who have made NOR an outstanding community for decades, both directly and indirectly. In addition to the memorial, we added and improved several harvesting nodes, completed the extensive upgrade to the Tavern, and witnessed our first scribe reaching level 400. Congratulations to Zyera and thank you for working hard at this accomplishment!

As we continue to grow and bring in additional recruits, we constantly review and make adjustments to our scheduled events as needed. We have introduced two new activities: Intro to Fractals and “Name Your PvE”. These are particularly aimed at recruits and/or people who are newer to the game for helping them to get integrated with NOR. We continue to run guild missions on Sunday nights and our Sunday afternoon SIEGE event. We also explored a second raid alliance, this time with Project Knighthood, and enjoyed a very successful first adventure with them, experiencing our raid first kill of the Vale Guardian.

The best part of the past two months has been the NORbies that help us to get the most from the game. We are thankful to Baron Cheese for stepping up into an officer role. He has been heavily involved from the first day he joined and a great asset to the guild. We also heartily welcome Diablo, Silent Storm, CDelzell, Irensaga, and Raprap as squires into NOR. We continue to seek more quality recruits searching for a home and look forward to expanding the family.

The Guild Wars 2 branch has an embarrassment of riches comprised of a wonderful community and frequent content drops from Arena Net. Time fails us to go into details about feeding cats, guild hall jumping puzzle shenanigans, dressing up for Halloween, and visions of flax seeds burned into our retinas. It’s a great time to be alive in Guild Wars 2 and we’re happy to help anyone interested to come and be a part of it. You can try it for free at any time. Happy gaming!

Hail*NOR/!

Many exciting things have occurred since our last newsletter! Champion Teigra was awarded the Golden Aldobora Tree!  Duke Intisar had these words to say regarding Teigra:  “Tonight I was very pleased to award the Golden Aldobora Tree to Teigra for her tireless devotion to guild activities. She is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to Conquest, flashpoints, operations and achievement hunting. Her dedication has not gone unnoticed by all, and it is with great gratitude that I was able to bestow this award on her.”  Congratulations Teigra!

Speaking of fun, It’s Halloween costume time!  If you like to dress your toon up for Halloween, post your screenshots here:  http://newoutriders.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=5719  Sunday, October 30th at raid time, we’ll be gathering our costumed toons together for a group shot.  Duke Intisar plans on making another great comic book cover like he did last year, and it was awesome, can’t wait to see it!

The Dark vs Light Event is winding down and ending soon! If you have many or a few achievements left and need help, we are happy to help.  There are rewards for each level and many things to do to earn those rewards.   Many of us have finished the event and are helping others with the achievements.  To learn more, go to:  http://www.swtor.com/dark-vs-light/home

The Republic Guild Ship is completely unlocked!  When you have a few free moments, feel free to see all our decorating work!  The rooms are themed and our guildies did a great job decorating them.  The guild ship is also a handy place to take care of all the gtn, mail, bank, modification, etc. needs you may have.

In honor of the 5th anniversary of SWTOR, Duke Intisar let us know “Bioware has posted 5 tracks of unreleased music from Rise of the Hutt Cartel and Shadow of Revan soundtracks. It's some very cool and moody stuff, check 'em out:”

Thank you to all who have joined in the raiding fun on Tuesday and Sunday evenings.  We really enjoy raiding and appreciate you!  If you have not had the opportunity to run some or all of the Ops, join us on Tuesday evenings, 9pm server time for a fun time!  Anyone level 55 and up is welcome.  Don’t let “potato” gear or “I haven’t ever run before, I don’t know what I’m doing” stop you.  We’re here to teach you the ropes and get you killed….er we mean help you have fun!  If you’d rather be a little better prepared before a run, talk to Intisar, Galaxiya, or Vasinar and we’ll chat with you about what it’s like to raid and what you may want to know beforehand that would be helpful.  There’s always something to learn in SWTOR and we’re happy to help.

Welcome new recruits Kazenage and Gettalla!  We hope you will love it here as much as we do!  We’re a fun, friendly bunch so feel free to let us know how we can assist you with items you may need, running content, or anything else you may need in game.

As the Branch moves into the next exciting phase, we invite everyone to keep contributing in whatever ways you can. The NOR Spirit is flourishing here, and we hope that together we all can continue to pull together and take the Branch to new heights. Good luck in your gaming adventures and we hope to see you in game! May the Force be with You!
