Hail*NOR/NOR

The HighCouncil is back in session after a month long recess, so I thought this would be a good time to bring back Lasarian's HighCouncil segment of the newsletter.  I will be recapping any major decisions the HC votes on, the status of any guild assets and point out any hot forum topics.

This past Sunday was the monthly business meeting where our branch leaders check in and report the status of their NOR branch.  Congradulations to ArcheAge for leading the pack with 89 active members!  With strong active realms like ArcheAge, The Old Republic and Neverwinter all leading the growth of the guild the HC has turned its attention to some of our slower branches in order to determine their future.

After 3yrs of New Outrider occupation we have voted to close the Guildwars 2 realm and 4yrs old Rift branch.  Unfortunately officers and members alike moved on to other games and the player base dried up, we do thank the many officers that tried to revive these branches in the recent past and we are sorry to see them go.  The closing of these branches and others to come doesn't slow the growth of the guild, we are a very fluid guild.  We spring up in new places every year and see our members move from realm to realm!   However, if you do find yourself in a realm that is losing its way and want to help, please contact the norhc@newoutriders.org and we will do all we can to help get it back on track.

We are asking for your support in helping Emeritus Lasarian with the Tatsukki memorial. Lasarian who has done more then any other NOR member to date building the infrastructure of this guild, expanding and setting up new branches during his 20years of service.  Now even after he has stepped down as a active HighCouncil member he is working hard for the guild.  Please email him your support as he sets up a memorial for Tatsukki of Warcraft.   He needs as many signatures as he possible persuade the warkcraft higher ups.  This newsletter goes out to almost 800 members and we would love to see those kind of numbers showing their support for a fallen member.
           Email your support at lasarian@newoutriders.org

Lastly a big thank you to all the members that have contributed to the newsletter, we have reached our 3year anniversary with 33 issues!!!   On the NORwiki I have added every article to the corresponding realm history, it is great to see the history of the guild unfold.  Another fun fact, the Old Republic has had a article in every single issue, that's awesome!

Thanks again!

*1st Organized Neverwinter Raid Night, Greed of the DragonFlight

Hail*NOR/

This was a month of rapid growth and renewed energy for the Neverwinter branch of the New Outriders guild. Interest in joining guilds is at a high and new applications are rolling in almost faster than our officers can find and tag the recruits. Several friendly, enthusiastic, and all-around high-quality people have joined in the past month, and several more friendly, enthusiastic, and all-around high-quality people have come back to Neverwinter after a hiatus. Guild chat is humming with conversation and there are typically one to two groups running dungeons every night.

The big new event in Strongholds is the Greed of the Dragonflight event, which is Neverwinter's first true guild raid content. Up to 40 players take on up to 4 dragons simultaneously within a 10-minute time limit. Kill one dragon and the others flee within a minute, so it isn't possible to move in a horde from dragon to dragon: the guild has to decide how many dragons it wants to attempt, and attack them simultaneously. It requires close coordination, communication, careful team-building, and great teamwork, and it's a blast!

We currently have biweekly scheduled raids that tend to draw an average of 20 people, and enough people are on every night that we can usually launch informal pick-up attacks on one dragon every night. So far we can just beat two dragons (the red one and the green one) within the time limit. But we can - and will, if this rate of recruitment continues - add up to 20 more people and eventually tackle all four dragons simultaneously. Sound like fun? Start an account (it's free!) and give Neverwinter a try! Uncle Tundrra wants you!

Building the guild stronghold has also been a great source of energy and excitement in the branch, and everyone has pitched in to help. The players with more resources have been generous with those resources, but the number one contribution needed - and made - has been time spent doing the heroic encounters, epic dungeons, and other tasks needed for the resources. The abandoned guild hall is being repaired and workers and life are returning. Rubble is being removed. Lights are going back up. There's a fountain in the courtyard. We've built and upgraded a quarry, a sawmill, a mine, and a marketplace.

What does this mean in game terms? Well, we're aiming to get the stronghold up to rank 8 (this month, we raised it from rank 1 to rank 4 already) so we can all acquire the new BiS "guild" weapon set. We're also aiming to get the marketplace up to rank 4 so we can buy the BiS "dragonflight" armor set with the currency we've been earning from the Dragonflight event. Finally, we're about to start building our first "boon" structure, a building that will grant powerful stat bonuses to everyone in the guild. Building and upgrading these "boon" structures will benefit everyone in the guild, new and old, weak and powerful alike.
All in all, it's a great time to be playing Neverwinter in NOR!

Best regards,
Baron Tyrandil

Hail*NOR/!

Many exciting things have occurred since our last newsletter! First and foremost, we are uber excited to announce that as decreed and carried out by Lady Zy, Count Intisar has been promoted to Duke and has assumed command of our esteemed SWTOR Branch!  Lady Zy remains active in the branch and as always, is available to one and all that may need her assistance.
Duke Intisar’s first order of business was to promote Galaxiya to Countess and readily accepted her request to have unlimited access to “rescue” for continued fun and games.  Baron Vasniar was not as happy about that agreement, but perked up when Galaxiya assured him she would teach him how to “rescue” effectively.
The guild meeting yielded some great prizes to those attending and additional promotions included Recruits Alaer and Rasczak.  Both were promoted to Squire!  If you have not have the pleasure of running with these two yet, please do.  Both have an awesome outlook and do a great job of getting the most out of their class.  They are a great addition to NOR!
After the guild meeting, Duke Intisar had time to collect his thoughts and posted some meaningful words of wisdom on the forums.  To see the post in its entirety go to:   http://newoutriders.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=4502

“At the end of the day, MMOs aren’t about the characters or the loot or the number of bosses killed or PVP matches won, it’s about the people you play with. In NOR, I’ve been fortunate to play with an absolutely top notch group of folks from all walks of life and from one end of the planet to the other. You guys are what makes NOR great, and getting to goof off with y’all after a long day is a pleasure I don’t take for granted.

A few folks have asked me if anything is gonna change. My answer is I hope not! Zy isn’t going anywhere and is still the big kahuna. I hope NOR remains a place where anyone from casual players to progression raiders feel welcome and I encourage folks to join in the fun whenever they can. I may not have the answer to every question, but someone in the guild can probably point you in the right direction. If you need advice about a quest or gear or a flashpoint or a heroic, I hope you’ll speak up. There are often lots of folks around to help.

In the end, my goal is to be worthy of the fellowship I’ve received from NOR this past couple of years and return it whenever I can.”

We appreciate Duke Intisar’s words of wisdom and will continue to strive to be a place where all can feel comfortable and respected.  Lady Zy has done a fabulous job getting us this far and we appreciate all her past, present, and future efforts!
October will be here before we know it and the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion will mean the end of 12xp class mission boosts!  Leveling will be much slower once the 12xp is gone so act quickly and work on the toons you may have put off until later.  Later has arrived!  The expansion is free for subscribers so if you’ve let your subscription lapse, this is a great time to reinstate it.  If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing the trailers yet, the wait is over!  http://www.swtor.com/fallen-empire
Baron Windemere’s ops run this past weekend was a big success and more will be planned.  If you would like to participate, feel free to post on the forum signup which ops you might be interested in running on the weekend.  With the older ops getting a “facelift” when the new expansion is released, they won’t be as easy to run as they are now.  Let us know if you have never run some of the old content and need the achievements as we’d be happy to run you through them.  If you are available during the week, feel free to sign up for the Friday and Saturday night ops.

Speaking of achievements, some Makeb achievements will be lost if not obtained before the expansion.  Duke Intisar posted the information on the forums and we are happy to run you through the many stages of Makeb missions to gain the achievements.  It is believed that a nice decoration will be available once the achievements are obtained and the expansion is released.  For more information, go to:
http://newoutriders.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=4460

Interested in running the events?  We just finished running the Gree event as many times as we could.  The events yield great gear and lots of fun.  Most of us have many toons to run on and can run the ops/events on either side.  If you’ve never run the events, to get the great gear, you have to have the reputation to buy it.  We can help!  Many of us have the runs down to a science and will happily escort you through them successfully.

If you are unsure of how to gear your toons effectively, we can help!  Our resident experts are: DMG group members: DM Valikk and KP members Zyera, Intisar, and Windemere.  All are very knowledgeable with gearing and getting the most out of a class.  You can usually find them online in the evening and on the weekend.

Guild ship fun!  Recently, Lady Zy accidentally picked up all the decorations in the guild ship and had to redecorate.  She did a great job and these screenshots look awesome!  http://newoutriders.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=4500
Our guild ships have everything you may need in one place, feel free to utilize them as needed.  We have the GTN, modification station, mailbox, cargo holds, and much more.  Explore them to your heart’s content!  Be forwarned though, some mischevious NORbies are often waiting to pelt unsuspecting guildies with snowballs.  This usually results in a game of hide and seek that sometimes leads to the Hutt ball room where we play Hutt potato!  Don’t know what that is?  Find out by exploring!

We are happy to announce our new recruits for this go around include Donuil, Jaicyne, Kastor, and Geing.  We look forward to running with our new recruits and hope you love it here as much as we do!  If we have inadvertently left someone out, please bring it to our attention as we want to recognize all our NORbies!
As the Branch moves into the next exciting phase, we invite everyone to keep contributing in whatever ways you can. The NOR Spirit is flourishing here, and we hope that together we all can continue to pull together and take the Branch to new heights. Good luck in your gaming adventures and we hope to see you in game! May the Force be with You!

Countess Galaxiya
