*1st Organized Neverwinter Raid Night, Greed of the DragonFlight

Hail*NOR/

This month saw the launch of Module 7 for Neverwinter. This mod added all kinds of goodies and love for guilds, the chiefest of which is an entire new zone exclusively for our guild, complete with a castle! The entire guild is involved in completing quests, dungeons, heroic encounters, and sundry other tasks to earn the resources needed to turn a dilapidated old ruin into a shining fortress exclusively for the New Outriders!

The new mod is very conducive to group play with guildmates. Since only guild members are allowed to enter the new zone, and since there is only one instance of said zone, literally everyone in the guild who enters that area will appear on the map together. This makes getting huge teams together for heroic encounters a cinch, and we have been doing that every night. It has been very exciting to watch the entire Neverwinter branch pull together to build the stronghold, and it has never been easier for all of us to connect and play together, regardless of level, gear score, or player skill.

This module also comes with Neverwinter's first true guild raid content, in the form of a multiple-dragon fight in the stronghold zone that is likely to take at least 20 players working in concert to defeat. This is a substantial improvement over Module 5's Tiamat fight, which was a 20-player fight, but which suffered from coordination problems that made it virtually impossible to team up with your guildmates to do. No such problems here!

As if all that wasn't enough, the developers have made leveling easier and have made the stronghold content accessible to low and mid level characters, as well as characters making the ascent from (former maximum) level 60 to (new maximum) level 70.

Several players who have been on hiatus have returned, our recruitment rate has gone way up, and there's a sense of freshness and excitement in the air. The last time the game felt this fun was launch.

In short: Best. Mod. Ever.

If you've been toying with the idea of trying Neverwinter, there has never been a better time to try it than now.

Best regards,
Baron Tyrandil

RAID INFO: We are currently running the event Wednesdays and Fridays, please reserve your spot early on the forums so we can pre-plan the groups for quicker set up times.

There was also some questions about Fangs after Fridays Raid, here are the things we have learned:

  • We only get a Fang if we kill 2 dragons.
  • Killing 1 dragon gives us a strongbox with 2 fangs in it, but requires a key.
  • 40 players total can attend, but no more then 20 per dragon.
  • every 2hours a 5min window will appear to start the event, so we have to be ready early, or we will miss the timer.
  • 10min timer on the full event.
  • Once the final dragon is killed, all other dragons retreat after 1min.

Hail*NOR/!

Many exciting things have occurred since our last newsletter! Togrutas and a new stronghold on Yavin have been released!  If you have not yet created a Togruta and want ideas or to see what others have done, check out all the great screenshots our members have posted of their Togrutas.  link  While we don’t have any screenshots of anyone’s Yavin stronghold yet as decorating it is keeping everyone busy, we hope to see some completed ones soon.  There have been some rumblings about it being time for another Stronghold Showcase so if you’ve been thinking about buying the Yavin stronghold, don’t put it off too much longer!

And, as if having Togrutas and a new stronghold isn’t exciting enough, the trailers of Knights of the Fallen Empire have got us wanting time to speed up to October 27th when the expansion is released!  The expansion is free for subscribers so if you’ve let your subscription lapse, this might be a great time to reinstate it.  If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing the trailers yet, the wait is over!  http://www.swtor.com/fallen-empire

Join us for fun runs and great loot!  We’ve been enjoying the weekly Wednesday Ziost 16 person Monolith runs and have got the run almost down to a science, which then allows time for fun runs such as Explosive Conflict.  Explosive Conflict will sometimes drop the Avalanche Tank mount that many of our guildies want and some already have.  The more guildies we have running, the bigger the chance of one or more Avalanche Tank drops!  If you’ve never had the pleasure of running some of the older ops, feel free to join us on Wednesdays or our usual raid nights of Friday and Saturday.  We are running as many of the old ops as we can before they are changed with an upcoming patch.
Baron Windemere is leading a weekend ops at 1:30pm for those who would like to raid on the weekend.  Check the forums for the weekend he plans to run it on and sign up if you are interested in joining.  One planned run has taken place so far and was a great start to the weekend raiding.  This is what the next signup will look like on the forum:

Sunday Afternoon Ops @ 1:30pm - 3:30pm
Date Set: August 9th

Sunday afternoon operation runs are a monthly event and follow our guidelines for casual raiding so all recruits and full members are welcome to come. If you have any questions about operation requirements, please reference the links below or ask an officer with any questions you may have:

Hurry!  There’s only a little time left for 12xp for class mission leveling before the new expansion is released in October.  If you haven’t taken advantage of the fast leveling, thinking you have plenty of time, now’s the time to get busy leveling!  If you want someone to run with, many of us are leveling too and would be happy to join up for the fun.  If you are unsure of how to gear your newly leveled toon, we can help!  Our resident experts are: DMG group members: DM Valikk and KP members Zyera, Intisar, and Windemere.  All are very knowledgeable with gearing and getting the most out of a class.  You can usually find them online in the evening and on the weekend.

On to Promotions and New Recruits!  Congratulations to Knight Vasniar who was promoted to Baron!  We look forward to more fun times with you!  Congratulations to Briennia and Cullucut who were promoted to Knight!  We know you will do a great job helping squires and new recruits feel welcome and comfortable asking for help when they need it.  Congratulations to Boku, Dabulamanzi, Maishka, Nimue, Sosefina, and Theovin who were promoted to Squire!  It’s been great getting to know you and we look forward to more runs together!  We welcome our new recruits Alaer, Armstrong, Cold-Toast, CrimsonQueen, Crosswalk, Hoka’nu, Liannya, Mhorgana, Nyo-than, Quaiso, Rapidfire, Seravent, Soul-Slinger, Warriorpath, Wilthrop, Vulga, and Zoe’e!  We look forward to running with our new recruits and hope you love it here as much as we do!  If we have inadvertently left someone out, please bring it to our attention as we want to recognize all our NORbies!

Last but definitely not least, we are looking forward to our next guild meeting on the republic guild ship on Sunday, August 29th at 8pm EST.  During this meeting, we’ll do some promotions, have a discussion of upcoming changes in the game, a general guild discussion, and more!  We always have a fun time during meetings and enjoy getting to know each other better, so please join us if you can, we’d love to see you there!

As the Branch moves into the next exciting phase, we invite everyone to keep contributing in whatever ways you can. The NOR Spirit is flourishing here, and we hope that together we all can continue to pull together and take the Branch to new heights. Good luck in your gaming adventures and we hope to see you in game! May the Force be with You!
