Character Notebook: Time to unwind

What does your character like to do to unwind or wile away their free-time? Do they have a favorite pastime or hobby? Do they enjoy finding tall things to fall off of or just enjoy a little "Me Time" with some chocolate cake, or getting covered in grease and oil fixing up an old golem?

Rolinda and Jiangnu LOVE LOVE LOVE going shopping together (they are teenage girls after all ). They love hitting all the shops, trying on new clothes, admiring beautiful jewelry, drooling over the sweets at the bakery, and even checking out the latest books. When they're not shopping or hanging out together, they both love to read. It's one of the things that started their deep friendship (along with saving each others lives ). While Jiangnu has to read a lot of scholarly books related to her studies which can be drab and dull, it never dampened her love for a good adventure or romance novel. Rolinda's not that into the romance novels as adventure is where it's at. They'll talk for hours about "Nika: Legacy of the Blade", or their other favorite book "Firebrand: Tales of Cynn" (along with the latest gossip, rumors, dresses, and anything and everything else )

Fribble is usually tinkering with something (most often her glider, since the fusion of Charr technology and Asuran metamagic didn't go quite as planned) in her spare time. She does her inventing and constructing mostly by instinct rather than well-thought-out planning, so sometimes her results are explosive or plain just don't work. They usually require fine-tuning in the field. When she's not doing that, she's exploring new areas and traipsing across the scenery outside. She doesn't like to stay cooped up in one place too long, so going on adventures and long wanders are just the ticket for her and whichever animal pal she's adventuring with at the time.

Tanpopo is a master illusionist (in her mind, at least) and something of a frustrated showperson. She didn't quite cut it as a circus performer in Divinity's Reach (too short). She has plans to someday take her illusions and metamagical projection inventions on tour in a show she thinks of as the Magical Mysterical Showcase. When she's not daydreaming about that, she's working on new show bits and practicing her illusions...or putting together stage outfits for herself. Her title Theurgist is part of her performance persona.

Finally, Preceptor Keahi usually just spends her free time practicing her glares and looking tough in the mirror. She provides security for a couple of labs in Rata Sum when she's not out rescuing adventurers. Since she's somewhat taciturn and gloomy by nature, her idea of fun is usually to just look more grim.

Those who've been following my posts about Sofija Solburg, should have a good idea of what she does to unwind; a good drink and a fight (Along with a little "Hammer Time" )
For Sofija, besides spending time with family, nothing beats having a tall mug (or 3 or 4) of ale or mead to wind down the day with friends. And she enjoys a good fight, specifically a "Стенка на Стенку" (Stenka na stenku) or "Wall against a wall", a classic fistfight between two teams of usually 10 to 15 who stand in a line and fight against the other "wall" in a fistfight. A good-nature brawl to hone one's fighting skills and blow off a little steam all in fun while building solidarity. You can see an example of that in her theme song from her character page here and for those who don't speak Russian:
