Nimue de Danann

While Nimue wears the name de Danann proudly, it hasn't always been hers. She was born as the daughter of Vernon and Lucia Tamlin, both distinguished members of the Seraph. When Nimue was almost two years old, her parents were assigned to a detail that was to escort Lord and Lady de Danann and their infant son to Divinitiy's Reach. On the way, bandits attacked the caravan. What at first seemed like a random raid was in reality a targeted attempt on Lord de Danann, his wife and his heir. The Seraph managed to thwart it, but both Lucia and Vernon were killed in defense of the family.

In recognition of their sacrifice, Lord de Danann decided to adopt Nimue and have her raised together with his own son Galen. The de Dananns grew to love the little girl like their own, and Nimue and Galen grew up as brother and sister. There were some nobles who scoffed at the arrangement, and it was whispered that in truth the girl was not the daughter of the Seraph officer, but rather of Lord de Danann himself. However, no one of consequence ever took these rumours seriously.

While Nimue learned about her real parents as soon as she was old enough to understand what had happened, she has always thought of the de Dananns as her parents and Galen as her brother. She is very fond of her family and especially of Galen, who even as a child was fiercely protective of his "little sister" (who happens to be exactly two months younger than him).
