Character Slots in Cartel Market

Post by Talolan »

Massively wrote:Star Wars: The Old Republic's 1.6.2 patch notes are now live on the game's website. Along with a laundry list of tweaks and bug fixes, there are a couple of blurbs that might interest free-to-play players concerned about character slots.

First of all, slot restrictions are now being enforced, so free players should see a maximum of two per server. Preferred status players get six slots per shard, while subscribers get 12. If you must know, the global active character limit is 350! The Cartel Market is selling additional slots at a cost of 600 Cartel Coins.
600 coins is VERY cheap for a character slot compared to other Free-to-Play titles (in my experience), sort of offsets some of the things that are more expensive.

With character slots being 6 for preferred status players (per server) and finally being available for purchase, and them getting 4 action bars by default, I am now FINALLY going to let my subscription lapse and go free-to-play and see what happens.

Just wanted to correct something I said earlier. The information I received earlier was incorrect. Players may have their base character slots and up to ten extra character slots. For example, a subscriber with 12 character slots may increase their character slots up to 22. You can still have 350 characters overall. Apologies for the confusion.
I though this was interesting for those true altoholics!

600 coins really isn't that many. Free-to-play has gotten a lot better in the last couple updates. I'm pleasantly surprised.

I think I could fill 350 slots. 1 Sith Inquisitor, 1 Jedi Sage, 348 Jedi Guardians.

Some of the members of TCL say that their highest damage dealing member in their OP team is a DpS Guardian.

My tank alt is a guardian, I like the easy of moving from target to target with the pushes and pulls, but WHEN CAN A TANK GET A AoE TAUNT??? It's driving me batty:(

AoE taunts are for children and grandmothers. No tanking class in WoW currently has an AoE taunt.

Really? On eq2 I had like 4 different taunts, on swTOR at lvl 29ish I'm running still on a single taunt, it can be a bit tricky.

In WoW tank specs do bonus threat on all their damage, and they also get Vengeance, which increases their attack power based on incoming damage. Since they suck up the damage, they do more damage, which increases their threat. Lack of AoE taunt is only an issue if you are grouped with idiots who don't attack YOUR target. If I pull a group of 5 mobs, I EXPECT the DPS players in the group to attack the mob I'm actually targetting. If they attack any random enemy in the pack, they are much more likely to pull threat because I'm just doing AoE damage to those, where as the bulk of my threat is focused on 1 main target in the pack.

Assist macros are your friend in WoW. Bad DPSers are almost always a bigger problem than bad tanks or healers.

Assist Macros are for babies no class in DDO currently has any assist keys. In DDO we look around to see who the tank is taunting and watch enemy health bars and mez effects.

You had to have seen that one coming Talo

I can picture a world without war, a world without hate.
And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

I don't assist. I just pick the right target, but that is still a waste of time when you can do it magically.
