If the bag you are about to equip is larger than the one you are replacing, you can simply drop the new bag on top of the old one in the bag slot and it will equip the new bag and drop the old one into your inventory. Also, if anyone can't get something they need out of the bank tab, especially bags, feel free to send me an in game mail:)
