Eric Musco made a long post on the changes to Galactic Command starting next week and beyond:

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthre ... dit9213808

It's too long to fully post, but I'll quote some important sections:
Operations Lacking for CXP
We have been looking at all of the places that players can earn CXP and although our intent is that Operations (especially Veteran/Master) would be the best source of CXP, that is not true currently. We have been working to rebalance the CXP gains of Operations across the board so that they are at least on-par with the best sources of CXP in the game. We plan to include these changes with Patch 5.1.1, but we will give you more information on scheduling once we lock it down.

Galactic Command Gearing Alt-unfriendly
One of the biggest concerns expressed is Galactic Command forces a player into working only on one character. Although that wasn’t our intention, we agree with you. For starters, in 5.1 we are implementing the Legacy-wide currency of Command Tokens, legacy bound boosts you can purchase with Command Tokens, and the legacy perk to speed up leveling. We know that isn’t enough, so we are exploring additional options so that when you are playing any character, there is a way to potentially provide benefit to all other characters in your legacy as well. I have no specifics to share at this time, but I am working to have more details available for our January 26th Livestream.

Command Rank Leveling Speed
We monitor Command Ranks across the game, along with player feedback on the rate at which players are leveling. The Legacy perk and additional boost will help speed up leveling, but we will continue to review. Let’s see how it feels after 5.1. We’ll discuss with you and make further adjustments, if needed.

New Endgame Content
We know addressing the gearing concerns is only half of the equation. Whether it came from the forums, social media, or even focus groups, the feedback is that you want more large group and MMO content such as daily areas and Operations. We will be discussing these very topics in our Livestream next Thursday, January 26, 2017, so come join us!
The thing that really jumped out at me was that I think this was Bioware's first official use of the word "operations" in at least a year.

In addition bosses who drop tokens will be dropping two in 8 man instead of the traditional one, so this will help us complete our sets a bit faster.

There is a lot riding on next Thursday's livestream, but I am starting to feel a bit more hopeful. My pie-in-the-sky wish is that we'll see an Oricon style zone with a story and daily quest area setting up one large or two small operations. If they threw in a Toborro's Courtyard one-off-boss as well, I'd be extra pleased.

Here is the follow up from Musco regarding which boss drops which tokens:

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthre ... ost9213914
Here are the drops for Tier 1 and Tier 2 gear which come from Story and Veteran difficulty respectively:
  • Implant/Earpiece: Eternity Vault – Soa (The Infernal One)
  • Relic: Karagga’s Palace – Karagga the Unyielding
  • Chest: Explosive Conflict – Warlord Kephess
  • Legs: Terror From Beyond – The Terror From Beyond
  • Hands: Scum and Villainy – Dread Master Styrak
  • Boots: The Dread Fortress – Dread Master Brontes
  • Head: The Dread Palace – The Dread Masters
  • Off-hand: The Ravagers – Ruugar
  • Mainhand: Temple of Sacrifice – Revan
  • Bracer: Makeb – The Golden Fury (and Eyeless from the Rakghoul event)
  • Belt: Ziost – Worldbreaker Monolith (and Xenoanalyst from the Gree event)
The numbers for PVP are here:

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthre ... ost9213920

Basically if you rely only on PVP for gear and have no luck from the loot boxes, you're in for a grind. PVPers are flipping tables, but from a PVE point of view, I'm cool with it. I always hated "PVP for PVE" whether is was tanking shoulders for my druid back in WOW or Obroan relics during Rise of the Hutt Cartel.

Here is Musco's breakdown of Thursday's livestream:

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthre ... ost9222064
On Tuesday we released Game Update 5.1 - Defend the Throne
  • Master Mode Chapters
  • 5 new Uprisings
  • Galactic Command Gearing Changes -- We know that the changes in 5.1 are just the start. We are looking into simplifying, making faster, and making more alt friendly the gearing in GC. We are also looking into making getting through Command Ranks faster.

Coming in April, Game Update 5.2 which will include
  • Brand new story arc on Iokath. The Empire and Republic are fighting over control of the planet and you, as the Alliance Commander will choose who to side with.
  • Two returning Companions: Quinn and Elara.
  • After completing Iokath's storyline, it opens up into a new daily area.
  • Coming with Iokath is the first boss of a new Operation. Each subsequent boss will be released in the future with the entire Op being completely released this year.
  • We are planning to have a PTS for 5.2 in the next few weeks. More details to follow.
Bioware had the choice of releasing a full Operation later (probably much later) in the year, or dropping one boss at a time starting early spring, and I think they made the right choice. Artificially gated ops content is not super-awesome, but at least we'll have a new boss to look at in a few weeks.

The return to Iokath should be neat. Charles Boyd mentioned that we'll choose which faction to help and that choice will dictate whether Elara or Quinn becomes available as companions. Moreover that choice may also affect the return of future companions who tend to prefer one faction over another. He mentioned Felix Iresso specifically. I imagine the choice between Elara and Quinn will be an easy one for most players, but imagine if the choice becomes one between Kira and Jaesa or Doc and Vector. CHOICES MATTER!?

Moar CXP balancing!

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthre ... dit9231661

Short Version: More, faster packs.
As I mentioned earlier this week, we have quite a few changes planned for gearing over the next few Updates. Let’s go over what they are, when they are happening, and why!

Game Update 5.1.1 – Coming February 7th

  • All Command Experience Points (CXP) gains, CXP Boosts, and CXP Legacy Perks are now additive instead of multiplicative.
    • This change is being made to setup for the greatly increased CXP gains that are possible in 5.1.1 (if you love math click the spoiler tag below for what this means in greater detail)
  • New CXP leveling event. This event will run until Game Update 5.2 in April. During this event all CXP earned will be increased by 250%.
    • The goal is that you will earn one crate every 30 minutes or less. The 30 minute time-frame is for a Tier 3 crate (meaning 1 and 2 will be even faster).
  • All CXP Packs that you earn from drops and Missions are now Bind on Legacy.
    • This change is to help a player distribute CXP around their Legacy if they choose to do so.
  • We are introducing a new 100% CXP boost in addition to the existing 15% and 25% boosts. This boost can be purchased from the Command Token vendor or the Cartel Market. This boost only works up to Command Rank 180 and lasts 2 hours (Command Tokens) or 3 hours (Cartel Market).
    • The goal of selling this boost for Command Tokens is that it allows higher Command Rank players to use their Tokens to greatly accelerate leveling their alts (you can also buy them on the CM or GTN).

Game Update 5.1.2 – Coming February 28th
  • We will be rebalancing the CXP rewards you earn from Operations. Boss kills will now award more CXP than they did previously. The Operations Weekly has had its CXP reward greatly increased.
    • Operations CXP rewards are below where we would like them to be and so we are increasing their CXP value from both gameplay and Missions.
  • Group Finder Daily CXP Rewards are being added. Completing the Daily Group Finder Bonus will award you with a bonus CXP Pack.
    • We wanted to ensure there were great CXP incentives to participating in Group Finder. By making it a CXP Pack it has the added bonus of being Bind on Legacy so you can use it on whatever character you would like.
  • The completion Mission for Flashpoints have had their CXP values greatly increased.
    • Flashpoint CXP rewards are also below where we would like them be to and so we have added a much larger CXP bonus for completing their respective Missions.
  • The Flashpoint and Uprising Weekly Missions have had their CXP rewards increased.
    • Our goal is to really encourage players to play multiple types of content for the best rewards. We want to encourage playing a diverse set of content, not a singular activity (although you can always still do that if you prefer)
  • The PvP Daily and Weekly Missions now reward a batch of Unassembled Components.
    • This is one of the changes we are making to help players in getting Unassembled Components faster. It also incentivizes dabbling into PvP often.
  • We have increased the Unassembled Components that are awarded to players after completing Ranked and Unranked Warzones.
    • Not only did we want to reward playing Warzones through Missions, but we also wanted to ensure that those of you who play primarily Warzones each day could work towards purchasing gear quicker.

In the future
  • Unassembled Components and Legacy. We understand your Legacy is important to you and we agree with that, we are looking at ways to address that in the future.

These are all of the changes you can expect in 5.1.1 and 5.1.2 for Galactic Command. As you can see there is a lot happening and we want to hear what you think. As we go through these updates we will continue to monitor feedback and data to see what other adjustments may need to be made!

With today's patch, the increase to CXP gains is 350% instead of the previously announced 250%. Musco says this is to balance out the additional changes coming at the end of the month. From the CXP packs I save from last night's operation, my bounty hunter gained two levels so CXP gains are definitely accelerated. However, we should expect the bonus to go down to %250 with the patch on the 27th.

Also note that the bonus CXP packs are now legacy bound so you can funnel more CXP to a single character if you like.

With next week's patch, the gain rate of unassembled components has been increased. I don't know if this is a significant improvement, but it should help. Full post:

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthre ... ost9247817
As I mentioned in the GC roadmap thread, 5.1.2 at the end of February will bring a lot of changes to Missions and Unassembled Components. For this post I want to focus on Unassembled Components and the specific changes that you can expect. Below you will find the new values along with what their old values were.
  • Warzone Win: 8 (up from 5)
  • Warzone Loss: 3 (up from 2)
  • Arena Win: 4 (up from 3)
  • Arena Loss: 2 (up from 1)
  • Solo Ranked Win: 8 (up from 5)
  • Solo Ranked Loss: 3 (up from 2)
  • Group Ranked Win: 10 (up from 8)
  • Group Ranked Loss: 4 (up from 3)
  • GSF Win: 8 (stays the same)
  • GSF Loss: 3 (stays the same)
Currently in the game, PvP Missions do not award any Unassembled Components. In 5.1.2 we will be adding them onto all of the Mission rewards. Here are their values:
  • Warzone Daily: 12
  • Warzone Weekly: 40
  • Solo Ranked Daily: 16
  • Solo Ranked Weekly: 30
  • Group Ranked Solo: 20
  • Group Ranked Weekly: 60
These are the adjusted Component rates coming in 5.1.2 on Feb 28. Thanks everyone.

I played a bit this afternoon. CXP rewards for PVE content has been significantly boosted. Flashpoint, Uprisings and Ops weekly reward thousands of cxp now, and the further into an op you go, the more cxp each boss is worth. I got 6 levels from EV today, even before the cxp packs from the bosses.

Vas was pvping while I was on and he tells me PVP dailies and weeklies are no awarding a big chunk of Components as well.

If anyone wants some company to complete weeklies, please don't hestitate to ask!

Patch 5.1.3 Notes

http://www.swtor.com/patchnotes/0313201 ... date-5.1.3

Not a ton of changes this time. Hopefully the Landing Party change will also address the bugged last encounter we've encountered a couple times.
Game Update 5.1.3

General
  • Corrected an issue where the pop-up text for some Class Missions would display a different experience amount than the Mission Reward. Note: The player still received the correct amount of experience; the pop-up was incorrect.
  • Lowered the amount of dark/light side points required to hit dark 1/light 1 from 7500 to 3000.
  • Nar Shaddaa Planetary Missions will no longer auto-complete upon being granted by Galactic Command.
Items + Economy
  • The Unrelenting Interceptor has been restored to its original “sith-like” form. The vehicles sound effect will now play as intended and the engine has been restored to its original color, red.
  • Addressed an issue where some helmets would not display properly for Body Type 2 Female characters.
Uprisings

Landing Party
  • Corrected an issue where killing enemies was not adding progress to the “Dismantle the Opposition” Achievement.
Inferno
  • Fighting Zanisk and Adacin from their entrance ramp will no longer cause the encounter to stop functioning.
Destroyer of Worlds
  • Dark Relics will no longer despawn after activating the access panel next to Skurr and Velloc.
