Don't forget that while the game is promoted as a competitive team FPS (ranked matches coming soon!) there are lots of ways to practice; shooting ranges, AI vs games, and custom games. So if you're friend prefers controller to keyboard/mouse because they "aren't good" with the K/M combo (an agrument I hear often) there are plenty of ways to ease into it.

Although if anyone prefers controller over K/M for comfort, well to each their own I say!

In all seriousness, if I can play this game and enjoy it, anyone can. FYI, I briefly played Doom and Quake as a teenager, but I did not actually get into gaming until the ripe old age of 22, and to this day, I still can't really platform in eLOL. I did not really learn how to do WASD until NW. However, the skills I learned and honed in NW definitely transfers well. The mindset of playing as a team definitely transfers over well. The key to enjoying Overwatch as a newbie is to find a character in each role that you'd like playing. Speaking of that, since I know Rabbit plays squishy casters, here's what I would recommend for absolute beginners to the genre:

Offense on Pharah. She hits hard, can fly almost at will, and as long as there isn't a good sniper on the other side, she's golden.
Defense on Junkrat. He is more of a CW than he might appear, and aiming is...well, just shoot in the general direction and it'll usually blow something up.
Tank on Reinhardt. Incredibly sturdy. Put up the shield and just walk. Ok, don't charge off a cliff though.
Support on Lucio. AOE heals and buffs. Has Repel. Good mobility. No aiming necessary. [/list][/list]

That said, I cannot deny that the personalities of the characters are all pretty fun. #TeamWinston

I see this likely on my future. I'll talk him in to PC. I have an xbone controller for things like castle crashers and rogue legacy. Then I'll try to lure rabbit in to liking it haha. She hates shooters though so will be tricky.

Having NOT come from a background of FPS's, I definitely am not great this game, and I am definitely getting my butt handed to me in a match against real humans, especially good snipers. That's ok, I'm only lvl 19. By the time I cross Lvl 50, I should be better at this.

Noobicabra played in one of the Overwatch pro qualifiers today. His team went 2-1 (single elimination) and lost to Team Liquid, which as you may know is a pro team. Looking forward to his continued efforts!
